Happiness: where it likes to live
| Biomes | Neighbours | |
|---|---|---|
| Loves | Tavernkeep | |
| Likes | the Underground | Mechanic, Princess |
| Dislikes | the Ocean | Arms Dealer, Goblin Tinkerer |
Town NPCs charge less when they are happy: the game lowers their prices for loved and liked biomes and neighbours and raises them for disliked and hated ones.

Drops
Demolitionist drops nothing in the game's drop rules.
Explosives supply and arrival requirements
The Demolitionist is a sturdy dwarven miner who brings dangerous blast munitions to player towns. To persuade him to move in, players must construct a valid empty room, ensure the Merchant has already moved into town, and carry at least one explosive item in their inventory, such as a Bomb or Grenade retrieved from subterranean pottery or wooden chests.
He possesses 250 life and 15 defense. When blood moons or goblin armies batter down wooden doors, he vigorously defends his hearth by hurling Grenades at clusters of foes, dealing significant explosive area damage to densely packed monsters.
Mining charges, munitions, and blast inventory
His shop provides an endless supply of high explosives that revolutionize cave exploration and excavation tasks. He sells cheap Grenades for clearing early enemy swarms, standard Bombs for carving rapid mining shafts through stubborn rock and veins of valuable ore, and heavy Dynamite for clearing vast subterranean caverns in seconds.
In Hardmode, his catalog expands to include Land Mines and Hellfire Arrows, turning basic wooden bows into incendiary launchers. Buying bombs from him also allows crafting Sticky Bombs and Bouncy Bombs at a work bench, giving miners and combatants precise control over explosive trajectory and placement.
Cavern quarry outpost and explosive stockpiles
Excavation projects and boss preparation require hundreds of Grenades, Bombs, and Dynamite sticks. The preference table above displays his full regional affinities and companion ratings.
Excavating an underground bunker in the Cavern layer alongside the Merchant grants deep price cuts on his explosive catalog. Housing him underground cuts the cost of clearing large hellevators and boss arenas while immediately powering the subterranean Cavern Pylon. Stockpiling Sticky Bombs also provides an easy method to crack open stubborn shadow orbs and crimson hearts before acquiring high-tier pickaxes.
Trivia
- He constantly references dwarven traditions of ale, pickaxes, and subterranean gunpowder.
- Tossing his Grenades into dense crowds makes short work of pre-Hardmode invasion events.
