Drops

Truffle drops nothing in the game's drop rules.

Cultivating surface glowing mushroom turf

The Truffle moves into town exclusively in Hardmode and requires specialized housing. Players must create an artificial surface Glowing Mushroom biome by planting Mushroom Grass Seeds on Mud Blocks above sea level. Once at least one hundred mushroom tiles are established, altering the background and music, a valid empty house placed in the biome allows the Truffle to move in.

He defends his fungal home by releasing floating spores that linger in the air to damage attackers. His spongy stalk carries 250 health and 15 defense, dealing 10 contact damage to enemies that touch him.

The Autohammer forge and fungal weaponry

He sells fungal-themed armaments including the Mushroom Spear, Hammush, and the Strange Glowing Mushroom pet summon, along with Dark Blue Solution for spreading mushroom biomes with the Clentaminator. The Mushroom Spear fires a piercing thrust that releases spinning energy blades, making it a reliable early-Hardmode polearm, while the Hammush functions as a dependable demolition tool.

After defeating Plantera, he stocks the vital Autohammer station for one platinum coin, which combines Chlorophyte Bars and Glowing Mushrooms into Shroomite Bars for endgame ranger armor. Shroomite armor crafted using his Autohammer grants powerful stealth mechanics that boost ranged damage and critical strike chance while standing still.

Surface mushroom colony and autohammer crafting

The Truffle requires a specialized surface Glowing Mushroom biome built with mud blocks and glowing mushroom grass seeds. The preference table above outlines his environmental needs and roommate ratings.

Housing him in a vibrant blue mushroom enclave alongside preferred companions yields steep price reductions on the Autohammer workstation, Shroomite crafting supplies, and the Mushroom Spear while immediately powering the surface Mushroom Pylon.

Mushroom pylon outposts on the surface

Establishing a surface glowing mushroom settlement with the Truffle and the Guide or Dryad easily unlocks the Glowing Mushroom Pylon. This teleporter provides instant transit directly to your surface glowing mushroom farms, making harvesting glowing mushrooms and truffle worms effortless throughout Hardmode.

Trivia

  • He is the only town NPC that requires an artificial surface biome to spawn.
  • His dialogue frequently expresses paranoia about being eaten by players or other villagers.
