The Jetpack is purchased from the Steampunker for 40 gold during Hardmode. She stocks this propulsion accessory when spoken to during the latter half of the lunar cycle, specifically from the new moon through the waxing gibbous phases. During the first half of the moon cycle, her inventory replaces it with specialized crafting stations instead. Unlike wings that demand farming Souls of Flight from Wyvern encounters atop sky islands, the Jetpack offers an immediate mobility upgrade purchasable with coinage right after downing a mechanical boss.

Upward propulsion burst and aerial dodging

Equipping the Jetpack grants flight time and safe slow falling while preventing all fall damage. Its signature attribute activates by holding the jump key alongside the up direction, triggering a rapid ascent boost that propels the player upward at double standard climbing velocity. This vertical acceleration consumes flight duration at an increased pace, yet it provides rapid repositioning to dodge sweeping attacks from Retinazer or Skeletron Prime. It pairs well with Spectre Boots or their tinker upgrades to extend aerial hang time.
